Suitable Varicose Vein Treatment Options

By Freida Michael

Blood vessels are vital components of circulatory systems in all humans. Any malfunction may have a far reaching effect and must therefore be addressed in time and effectively. Some diseases affecting these vessels are acute while others are chronic. Whichever the case, all require adequate care as a way of preserving quality and healthy living. For this reason, let us consider varicose vein treatment as part of venous care for quality life.

There are a number of reasons that drive individuals to seek care. These can broadly be classified as medical and cosmetic concerns. Individuals who are driven by medical concerns seek to ease symptoms associated with this condition. In addition, they may be troubled by complications arising from the primary disease. Cosmetic concerns revolve around physical appearance and the perception of not being pleasant to others. It calls for plastic surgery.

Endothermic ablation is one of the many treatment options. In this treatment approach, the primary goal is to close affected vessels and rest them from their functions. Once occluded, a vessel no longer causes any threat to health. In addition, the cosmetic concern is equally addressed as affected structures atrophies and disappears. There are two options that may be adopted to achieve this objective. One is radiofrequency ablation and the second is laser approach. In either case, high energy is released into affected structures causing disintegration and collapse.

A second option of therapy is sclerotherapy. A physician injects a special kind of foam into affected structures. After an injection of this kind, veins involved scar, lose their integrity and eventually collapse. Once they collapse, all distressing symptoms fade away after a few days since they no longer function as part of circulatory system. However, not all clients can utilize this form of treatment. All persons undergoing this kind of treatment must not have had deep vein thrombosis.

A third option involves surgery. A surgical procedure may always be necessary in cases where above options are not suitable. It is done under general anesthesia. This procedure entails ligation and stripping off parts of vein affected. Two minor incisions are carried out at the ends of identified venous structure; a thin flexible sterile piece of wire is then passed through the identified structure to aid in stripping it off. Minor complications as bruising are common but major complications like nerve injury are rare.

Phlebectomy is a fourth option available to contain this situation. It is a new way of managing varicose veins. A small incision is performed under local anesthesia to allow illumination of underlying structures. Illumination allows a physician to identify underlying target structures. Identified structures are then suctioned and digested thereby illuminating troubling structures.

One other basic care for this condition is the use of compression stalking. In this case, one wares a well fitting stalking designed for this purpose. It must be gentle enough to promote circulation and should be put on most of the times. It works by squeezing muscles and consequently blood through veins thereby avoiding stasis. Stasis may lead to additional more troubling health conditions.

Early and timely care is essential. All persons should seek care before it is too late and too expensive to control an underlying health condition.
