In tug of war, the class is divided into two teams and both teams have to compete with each other by pulling a rope to their respective sides. Now this is a game that will teach children that no man is an island and teamwork is very important.
Of course there is also the game that is known as monkey in the middle. Now in this game, there are two groups of people in opposing sides and there is a person between them. The objective is to hit the person in the middle and the one in the middle has to avoid getting hit by the ball otherwise he will be out.
A game that requires quite a huge number of people and a lot of energy would capture the flag. Basically, this teacher would split the class into two teams and each team has their own flag that the other team has to get without getting tag by any of the opposing team members. If one gets tagged by an opposing team member, then that person will be sent to a jail.
Now croquet is one fun game that does not require much running and is good for the less sporty children. Basically, two or probably more players have to hit balls of different colors into some hoops with a croquet stick. This is a game that can actually teach tactical ability.
Now dodgeball is another very fun game but it is more for the older kids because it can get a little rough. Now just for those who do not know, the objective of this game is for one team to hit the members of the opposing team in order to take out the members. Basically, the balls will be placed in the middle of the two teams and the teams have to collect the balls used for playing.
Now if one would want to plan some great activities for children, these games are really good. However, a teacher should never forget that the students must also learn the purpose of playing these games. It is important that the teacher would tell them what values are learned while playing.
